It's a fairly ungodly hour: about 3:00 in the morning. My plane leaves at 5:15, and I will have to leave my house soon, so I will make this post pretty short.
I am going to Guatemala. Wow. Geographically, it's no farther than, say, going to New York or anywhere on the east coast. But, as my friends and colleagues who have already embarked on their projects in somewhere other than Tucson know, going to a new place to live and work for two months is quite daunting. I have finished Yunus' book (and found the last quarter of it to be particularly relevant to my project, but that is for another blog post), have read every email from the Social Entrepreneur Corps multiple times, and packed in a manner similar to how I do math: it might not look methodical on paper, but believe me, it is. I feel ready to go. But then again, it's three o'clock in the morning, it's hard to feel much more than tired. EXCEPT REALLY FRICKIN' EXCITED (Joseph moment right there). I am being ushered out the door right now, and will post as soon as I can with much more detail.

What is a Senior Research Project?
At BASIS Tucson, seniors have the chance to propose an independent research project that takes place off campus during the last trimester of the year. The seniors whose proposals are accepted write their own syllabi and then head off into the world, to a site where they conduct their research while interning with a professional in the field. Those of us stuck on campus follow their adventures on this blog. Now that the projects are over, we are all excited to attend their presentations. The schedule is as follows:
