Retreat

Not as in: "Tell the platoon to retreat, the scopes are picking up a lot of bogies heading their way!" This retreat is the one that means a group of people cloister themselves in an area for a certain amount of time to focus on one thing. In reality, though, the Kore Press retreat I shall attend tomorrow is just a lengthened light meeting with snacks. I hope to learn about what it takes to run a business and start programs. I'll tell you what I actually learned (by refrencing my little notebook I'll take notes in) tomorrow.

I'm finding that the information I'm absorbing from Kore is more about running a non-profit and fulfilling a mission. Valuable, yes, but I'm still pondering how to fit this knowledge into the project question of mine that concerns the balancing of art and business. What do I do when the business isn't about making money? Correction: not about making profit. Money is needed to print books and fund projects.

I went downtown today!! On an errand to pick up some poetry for my boss to read. It was... a bemusing drive. I ended up following a car that looked like its driver knew how to navigate in order to exit downtown. And that air doesn't warm up because the sun can't reach it because the tall buildings keep it perpetually in shadow.
